The two-minute deal
Promise yourself only two minutes. Stopping is allowed.
Good for
- Dread is bigger than the task
- Boring chores
- You’ve been “about to start” for an hour
Why it helps
A short, fixed window makes the task feel safe enough to begin. Most of the resistance is in the starting, so two minutes often becomes ten.
The full version
Set a timer for two minutes.
Work on the task until it rings.
Decide honestly: stop, or do another two.
If you stop, that still counts as a win.
